My name is Marissa Georgina. I was born in Romania and adopted at two months old by a Cuban family in Miami, Florida.
For most of my life, I believed I knew where my story began. Like many adoptees, I grew up with questions about identity, family, and belonging, but I was fortunate to be raised by parents who loved me deeply and encouraged me to embrace both where I came from and where I was going.
Years later, while reclaiming my Romanian citizenship and searching for answers about my past, I discovered something unexpected. My American documents listed Romania as my birthplace. My Romanian documents listed Miami, Florida. Somehow, I had spent decades living with two different birthplaces on official records.
What started as a search for paperwork quickly became a journey of self-discovery. That journey led me back to Romania, where I met my biological family, reconnected with my roots, and gained a deeper understanding of the circumstances that shaped my life.
Today, I share my experiences through writing, advocacy, and storytelling. I am passionate about helping Romanian adoptees navigate questions of identity, citizenship, family history, and belonging. I believe our stories matter, and that understanding where we come from helps us better understand who we are.
Professionally, my background spans legal administration, marketing, customer service, operations, and advocacy work. Personally, I am a writer, creator, and lifelong student of human connection. Whether through my memoir, social media content, public speaking, or community involvement, my goal is simple: to tell honest stories that bring people together.
This website is a collection of those stories, experiences, and projects. I’m glad you’re here.
